Currentum
Corporate site in five languages for a newly established construction and electrical group
Currentum owns a number of companies in construction and electrical services, and needed a new digital presence when the group brand was established. The work was a broad project at Hallvarsson & Halvarsson, covering the graphic profile, the naming and a corporate site in five languages.
- One group, many markets. The site speaks to each market in its own language, and each country has its own web address, while the content is managed from one place.
- Find the right company quickly. Visitors can narrow down the member companies by region and business area, and combine the two, to find the right company.
- A proven base instead of starting over. The site is built on our own Dbase platform, the same foundation as Acurum Group, so tested layouts and modules could be reused.
- Advice on functions and modules. I advised the team internally on functions and best practice for the different modules: what is possible, and how we should do it.
- Looked after over time. Maintenance and security updates continued after launch.
My part was the development and the advice on functions, from the requirements to launch.

Technical
Architecture & capabilities
Architecture principles
- Built on Dbase (the shared WordPress base theme/module library — see the Dbase project) rather than a one-off theme, so filtering and multilingual patterns are reused, not reinvented per client
- Filter state lives in the URL query string, not just component state — directly linkable/bookmarkable result sets, and crawlable per filter combination
- Per-market localization modeled as separate domains per country/language (currentum.se, currentum.fi, currentum.no, currentumgroup.com for EN) rather than a single domain with locale subpaths
Capabilities
- Two independent, combinable facet groups (Region, Verksamhet/business area) plus free-text name search, all narrowing the same result set together
- WPML-driven translation management across five languages/domains from one editorial workflow
- Result count and directory list update per filter combination (observed: "77 resultat" unfiltered, narrows on facet selection)
Design decisions
| What | Why | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Per-market domains vs. locale subpaths | Group needed each market to feel like a native local presence, not a translated subsite | Separate ccTLD-style domains per language, WPML managing translated content across them |
| Faceted filtering without a search backend | Directory (~77 entries) is small enough that a dedicated search index would be over-engineering | WordPress taxonomy-based filtering with URL-driven filter state |
