Acurum Group

Corporate site across four languages with automated translation and news migration

Acurum Group brings together companies in several Nordic countries, and needed one corporate site that works for every market. The site runs in four languages on one domain, built on our own Dbase platform, the same foundation as Currentum.

  • Four languages from one workflow. Translation is managed in one place, so the editors keep every language version in step without running four separate sites.
  • The news archive moved over intact. Existing news was migrated with an automated import instead of being re-entered by hand, so nothing was lost and the move could be repeated if needed.
  • A proven base instead of starting over. Because the site is built on Dbase, layouts and modules already tested on other sites could be reused, which kept the build simpler.
  • Advice on functions and modules. I advised the team internally on functions and best practice for the different modules: what is possible, and how we should do it.
  • Looked after over time. Maintenance, security updates and support continued after launch.

My part was the development and the internal advice. The site was built together with the team at Hallvarsson & Halvarsson.

Technical

Architecture & capabilities

Architecture principles

  • Built on Dbase (the shared WordPress base theme/module library (see the Dbase project), the same technical foundation as Currentum, so multilingual and content patterns are reused rather than reinvented per client.
  • Single-domain, subpath-based localization via WPML, a deliberate contrast to Currentum's separate-domain-per-market approach on the same underlying WPML+Dbase stack, showing the platform supports either localization model depending on the client's market strategy.
  • Content migration modeled as a repeatable import (WP All Import) rather than manual data entry, so the existing news archive carried over intact.

Capabilities

  • WPML-driven translation management across four languages from one editorial workflow
  • Automated news-content migration via WP All Import
  • Standard Dbase content patterns (page sections, news listing) reused from the shared module library

Design decisions

What Why Resolution
Localization model Unlike Currentum, this market didn't need a native-domain-per-country feel Single domain, WPML subpath localization (/en/, /da/, /fi/, Swedish at root), simpler DNS/hosting than a multi-domain setup
Migrating existing news content Manually re-entering an existing news archive would be slow and error-prone WP All Import-driven migration, repeatable rather than one-off manual work
